Our Focus

  • Womens Health

Being a woman should feel empowering.

For a lot of women, sorting out their health can often fall at the end of their to do lists. Whether it be stress, an over scheduled lifestyle, looking after the family or just life getting away from us – we generally tend to just get on with it.

So much so, that often period pain is considered normal, tension headaches are too frequent, a good night sleep becomes few and far between, fluctuating moods are becoming an issue and feeling bloating becomes normal. But just because these symptoms are common, that doesn’t mean that you can’t be free of them.

We looks at imbalances that may be causing the disharmony and contributing to your symptoms. We can work alongside endocrinologists, gynaecologists, your GP and other specialists as part of your holistic healthcare team.

  • Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a state of wellness. It is an important time in life to really hone in your self-cultivation and look after yourself. However, for some women pregnancy can have its challenges (particularly if there were pre-existing medical conditions) and requires some additional guidance and support to see you through a particular phase or trimester.

Some women can have nausea or back pain, while others can suffer from more severe morning sickness, headaches, hip pain and high blood pressure. Our main goal is to support you during your pregnancy and make sure you feel nurtured throughout this important time.

There is no rule as to when you can and can’t come for acupuncture during pregnancy but generally speaking most women seek more regular support during the first trimester as they early await the 12 week scan and as they approach full term from about 34-35 weeks.

  • Fatigue & Wellbeing

Having a busy life doesn’t mean we have to feel tired.

You may have checked in and got blood tests, scans and other examinations with no explanation as to why you’re feeling so average. You may be eating healthy, getting enough sleep and exercising and still feeling blah.

Persistent fatigue can be a common symptom when recovering from a virus, from adrenal fatigue, exhaustion, burnout and chronic fatigue. It can also be associated with conditions such as hypothyroidism, insomnia, migraines, allergies, autoimmune and chronic degenerative conditions.

Keeping active through exercise and regular movement, ensuring our bodies have adequate hydration, nutrition and enough rest is important to stay healthy. However, sometimes it takes seeking some guidance and support from a classical acupuncture perspective to get you feeling more like yourself.

  • Fertility

It is a significant time when you’re planning to start or extend your family.

We work with men and women to improve their preconception health, those trying to conceive naturally and those undergoing IVF treatment or those planning to freeze their eggs or sperm. Regardless of which of stage you’re at, we work with you as you prepare physically and emotionally for a future pregnancy and healthy baby.

Whether you are doing this with a partner, going through IVF, using donor eggs/sperm, on your own, planning for future pregnancies etc, we strongly encourage all parties involved in the creation of life work together, as a team, supporting each other, improving their overall health and wellbeing in the process.

  • Pain Management

Pain limits our freedom to enjoy life to the fullness.

Pain in your back, neck, joints and muscles can be caused by so many factors – sitting at a desk too long, stress, a physically demanding job or training, recent or past injuries, chronic mental health conditions, postural problems, inflammation, post surgical pain and chronic degenerative diseases.

Acute pain is usually a more sudden onset; when we have an injury or a temporary health condition this is usually quicker to resolve with treatment. Chronic pain is pain which persists beyond 12 weeks and can be associated with chronic disease or depression. Treating chronic pain can take a course of consecutive treatments. Chronic and complex pain patterns work best with an integrated holistic approach and we can work alongside your existing healthcare professionals as part of your healthcare plan.

  • Post Natal

The arrival of your new baby is a blessing.

It is an exciting time but can also be exhausting and a very overwhelming. Particularly if you are a first time parent or if you have a little one at home already keeping you busy.

Challenges many women face is fatigue and not sleeping well; even when they do get the chance to catch up on sleep. Common issues that can arise in those following months after the birth can be with breastfeeding, mastitis, baby being unsettled, painful or numb caesarean scar, wrist pain from nursing, feeling overwhelmed, lack of family support, feeling run down and catching colds more easily.

We provide space for women to come in feel supported and help them feel more like themselves.
